Last Reminder: Hagenbuch Reunion on Saturday, June 20, 2026

The 77th Hagenbuch Reunion is only 12 days away!
If you haven’t made any plans for Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 11 AM to 4 PM and are within driving distance of Oak Grove Lutheran Church near Danville, Pennsylvania, please consider attending. All branches of our Hagenbuch family are welcome at the reunion, including maternal lines. Our next reunion won’t be for another two years in 2028!
Please RSVP for the reunion here.
Seventy-three Hagenbuch reunions were held before it took a brief hiatus. It was reorganized in 2018, bringing us all back together. Our reunion welcomes not only the descendants of William (b. 1807) and Rebecca (Muffley) Hagenbuch, but also the descendants of Andreas (b. 1715) Hagenbuch and his two wives Maria Magdalena (Schmutz) and Anna Maria Margaretha (Friedler). That 2018 reunion was held at Oak Grove Lutheran Church, where the reunion returns this year.
Since 2018, the reunion has been held every two years, except for 2020 when it was canceled due the Covid-19 pandemic. Along with Oak Grove Lutheran Church, the reunion has been held at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Watsontown, PA and at Hidlay Lutheran Church near Bloomsburg, PA. All three are Hagenbuch churches where numerous family members are buried.
This year’s reunion will begin at 11:00 AM. Attendees should park in the gravel lot beside the church and take any food they have brought into the church where it can be kept until lunch. People should walk over to the pavilion across the road to register. At the pavilion, each person will receive a name tag and genealogical handout so they can make connections to other family members.
At 11:30 AM a brief talk about the church and our family history will commence. Participants will walk over to the church and sit in the sanctuary. Andrew Hagenbuch will talk about the history of Oak Grove Lutheran Church, along with how William Hagenbuch (b. 1807) and his descendants became some of its earliest members.
From there, everyone will exit the church sanctuary and enter the cemetery. A tour of Hagenbuch graves will start at 12:00 PM. These include: William (b. 1807) and Rebecca (Muffley) Hagenbuch (b. 1805), Hiram Sr. (b. 1847) and Mary Ann (Lindner) Hagenbuch (b. 1853), Matilda “Tillie” (Hagenbuch) Reichard (b. 1849), Joseph Hagenbuch (b. 1852) and his first wife Sarah Elizabeth (Robbins) Hagenbuch (b. 1853) and second wife Mary Emma (Robbins) Hagenbuch (b. 1860), Henry Bruce Hagenbuch (b. 1875), Francis Eugene Hagenbuch (b. 1877), Julia Rebecca Hagenbuch (b. 1884), Hiram Jr. (b. 1886) and Bessie E. (Lake) Hagenbuch (b. 1889), Clarence Charles (b. 1889) and Hannah Margaret (Sechler) Hagenbuch (b. 1889), and many more. Family stories will be retold, such as One Silver Dollar and how Hiram Hagenbuch Sr. and his eldest son, Henry Bruce, became ill with typhoid fever and died one day apart in 1897.
At 1:00 PM, attendees will move from the cemetery to the pavilion for a potluck lunch. Volunteers will be needed to help carry food from the church to the pavilion. Together we will eat and socialize as a family. After lunch, we will prepare Grape-nut ice cream and hand crank it to share with everyone.
Then there will be plenty more time to socialize and meet Hagenbuch cousins. Everyone is encouraged to bring family photos and artifacts to share. A table will be setup where these can be placed for viewing. Andrew Hagenbuch will be on hand to discuss family lines, stories, and history. There will be a few games and announcements. Also, a raffle will be held ($5 a ticket) for two Hagenbuch shirts. The proceeds will be donated to the church. The reunion will conclude at 4:00 PM and everyone who is able is asked to help clean up and return the space to its original condition.
Family reunions are important events, bringing together relatives who may rarely see one another or have never met before. Just as all of us are connected through the history of our ancestors, each of us has interesting family stories to share. Be sure to tell these throughout the day.
Let’s make the 2026 Hagenbuch Reunion a memorable one!
