Save the Date! June 20, 2026: 77th Hagenbuch Reunion

As we did two years ago, the Hagenbuch family will gather for a reunion on Saturday, June 20, 2026. This year the event will occur at Oak Grove Lutheran Church in Danville, Pennsylvania. Oak Grove is a “Hagenbuch Church” and many family members are buried there. The last time the reunion was held there was in 2018. Weather permitting, the event will be held in the pavilion across the street from the church.
The current details for the event are as follows:
- What: 77th Hagenbuch Family Reunion
- When: Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 11AM to 4PM
- Where: 483 Oak Grove Road, Danville, PA 17821, Map
As more information becomes available, it will be shared on this site and via email. A future article will include a schedule for the day, as well as an RSVP form for attendees to fill out with guests in their party and what food they will bring to the potluck lunch. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to contact us.
It should go without saying, but reunions are important events for a family. As my father, Mark, once wrote, they are the glue that holds us all together! Just like a family sitting around a table for a holiday meal, reunions provide a chance for relatives to reconnect, socialize, and tell stories. In recent years, some attendees of the Hagenbuch Reunion have brought along old family photographs to share with everyone—a real highlight of the day.
The first Hagenbuch Reunion was held in 1938 at Sunnybrook Park near Danville, PA. Over the years the reunion has taken place at Trout Pond Park near Hughesville, the Watsontown Park, the family church of Oak Grove Lutheran, and at Montour Preserve near Washingtonville.
The following article from The Daily Item on June 15, 1956 documents one of those early reunions held at Trout Pond Park:
Hagenbuch Reunion Held at Trout Pond Park
The 15th annual Hagenbuch reunion was held at Trout Pond Park, when Wilmer Hagenbuch was named president. Time of the reunion was changed to the third Saturday of June, 1957.
Other officers named were: Larue Hagenbuch, vice president; [illegible] secretary; Mrs. Mary Beaver, assistant; Raymond Hagenbuch, treasurer; Mrs. Paul Roat, historian; Mrs. John Robb, Mrs. Norman Hagenbuch, and Miss Edna Beaver, members of the recreation committee. Two births, a death, and one marriage were reported during the past year.
This year’s reunion will be important for a number of reasons. First, it marks the event’s return to Oak Grove Lutheran Church, where it last took place in 2018. In that year, my father, Mark, and I worked to restart the reunion after it had been on hiatus for several years due to declining attendance. Since then, the reunion has bounced back to life with subsequent events occurring in 2022 and 2024. (Unfortunately the reunion in 2020 was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.) The last reunion, held at Hidlay Church, was a wild success with nearly 80 family members attending!
Second, this year’s reunion represents the first time I will be planning the reunion without my father. Dad, like so many other relatives who are no longer with us, would have wanted the reunion to continue. It is my hope that we can pull together, keep a good thing going, and enjoy the fellowship that comes from connecting with the numerous descendants of Andreas Hagenbuch (b. 1715).
Save the date—June 20, 2026—and stay tuned for more details about the 77th Hagenbuch Reunion. We look forward to seeing you there!
